Twitter has removed the verification check mark on the main account of The New York Times, one of CEO Elon Musk’s most despised news organizations. The removal comes as many of Twitter’s high-profile users are bracing for the loss of the blue check marks that helped verify their identity and distinguish them from imposters on the social media platform.Musk, who owns Twitter, set a deadline of Saturday for verified users to buy a premium Twitter subscription or lose the checks on their profiles. The Times said in a story Thursday that it would not pay Twitter for verification of its institutional accounts. Early Sunday, Musk tweeted that the Times’ check mark would be removed. Later he posted disparaging remarks about the newspaper, which has aggressively reported on Twitter and on flaws with partially automated driving systems at Tesla, the electric car company, which he also runs. Other Times accounts such as its business news and opinion pages still had either blue or g...As Final Four closes, basketball on unpredictable ground

HOUSTON (AP) — The transfer portal. Name, image and likeness deals. Sixth-year seniors. Conference realignment. The ever-shifting prospects of the one-and-done rule. The once semi-predictable ground that underpinned college basketball has been changing at lightning speed over the past 24 months, leaving coaches and their bosses scrambling to adjust to whatever comes next. The NCAA Tournament closes out Monday when UConn plays San Diego State, and will go down as one of the most unpredictable ever. Unanswered is the question of whether the shifting landscape in college sports was the reason for all bracket madness or simply background noise for an event that is always hard to handicap.Either way, things are changing and coaches are trying to adjust on the fly.“These might be some of the greatest challenges we’re facing with the portal and NIL and just lack of direction and rules and regulations,” said Mark Few of Gonzaga, a perennial powerhouse that has reached the Sweet 16 in eight st...EEUU es el país con más catástrofes climáticas y expertos aseguran que empeorará

(NEXSTAR) – Go, Johnny, go!A new study of popular music trends has determined “John” to be the most common name used in song titles, followed by Mary, Maria, Johnny and David. The study, commissioned by an online music-industry resource called Music Industry How To, pulled its data from a total of 2,262,292 different song titles included in roughly 1 million Spotify playlists. Analysts then determined the frequency of the names that most commonly appeared, excluding any track titles that didn’t use a potential ”name” as a proper noun. (For instance, Madonna’s “Ray of Light” would have been excluded, as it uses “ray” in reference to a beam of light rather than a person’s name.) What’s the most popular last name in Colorado? The study’s findings, however, were based solely on playlists created in Spotify, meaning the song titles analyzed — and therefore the most popular names in those titles — may be skewed toward Spotify users’ tastes. As of late 2022, more than half (51%) of Spotify...Blast in St. Petersburg kills Russian military blogger: Reports

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Several major oil producing countries have joined Saudi Arabia in announcing surprise production cuts that could send world oil prices higher.
