Accessibility projects to begin this fall at William O’Brien State Park; open house Thursday

An open house to learn more about plans to provide additional accessibility and updated amenities at William O’Brien State Park in northern Washington County will be held next week at the Wildwood Library in Mahtomedi.The open house, hosted by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, will be 4-6 p.m. Thursday in the library’s Zephyr Room. DNR staff will share information and answer questions about the construction project, its impact on park visitors, and how the project fits into the park’s management plan.The construction project is slated to begin in September. Aurora police on Friday held a news conference to release body-worn camera video showing an officer fatally shoot 14-year-old Jor’Dell Richardson after he ran from police investigating suspicious activity.According to police, officers on June 1 chased a group of teenagers who ran from a convenience store near the intersection of East Eighth Avenue and Dayton Street. A gang sergeant on patrol noticed the group and asked for backup because the teens were wearing medical masks and sweatshirts, a news release from the police department said. More additions are coming to Downtown Disney as theme park officials continue to revamp the popular outdoor shopping area.The resort announced that the courtyard by Splitsville Luxury Lanes would transform into “The Alley,” a new area that will include interactive games, live music, lounge areas and seats for dining.
